The Ming‑Qing Debate and Historical Justice: What Are We Really Talking About When We Discuss History?

https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/DaQGDHuEaWMwmDaxu-RBrg

For the Chinese people to truly stand up, we must face history head‑on. Only by laying out that bloody, dark chapter in its entirety—honouring the heroes, shaming the traitors, and restoring history to its true face—can we finally set down our burdens and heal the centuries‑old national wound. When we are moved to tears by Li Dingguo and Zhang Huangyan, and when we rage against Hong Chengchou and Wu Sangui, we are not merely judging ancient figures; we are interrogating the souls of today’s generation. This simple, righteous force is the foundation of our nation’s endless vitality. May we all keep a sense of justice, sweep away the dust of history, and, through deep reflection, establish a dignified spiritual compass for the Chinese people. That is the ultimate significance of today’s Ming‑Qing debate.

Winter Solstice Musings

When the solstice arrives, the tasks are simple. Use “stillness” to carve out a clean space for the newborn yang energy; use “warmth” to nurture your roots from the soles of your feet to the depths of your heart; use “wish” at the most receptive moment to light a lamp that is neither greedy nor delusional; and learn to go with the flow of the year, avoiding its pitfalls, so that at the turning point between old and new fortunes you can step back a little, sidestep an inch, leaving a fallback for destiny and a ladder for your own ascent. If you are willing to believe that the heavens have their seasons, people have their cycles; fortunes rise and fall, and thoughts echo back, then a longer night is no problem. We are confident that the first sun will return, and everything will be hopeful.

The Way Lies in the Ultimate Cause, Not the Ultimate Result

What is the “original intention of the ultimate cause”? It is the uncontrived mind you hold in the present moment. “Uncontrived” means that, given the current internal and external conditions, the mind that naturally arises and should be established. Even if it is filled with trouble and pain, it remains guided by “what is” and “what ought to be.”

Moving in Harmony with the Spirit of Heaven and Earth

Thus, studying Chinese medicine means placing yourself within it and looking around. In this practice I can stand proudly, remain calm, and, with a light‑hearted, curious attitude, seek all kinds of answers. You’ll find life becomes joyful and rich. This is the living Chinese medicine—one that not only cures disease but, when problems arise, does not get stuck in a dead‑end, does not cling, and can always think of many ways to respond. If, by the end of your study, you keep saying “this cannot be done, that cannot be done,” you have gone off track. Instead, consider under what conditions something can be done, how to do it, what methods to employ, and find pleasure in the process—that is the true mastery of Chinese medicine. Learning it is not about how many concepts or answers you memorize, but whether you can experience freedom and joy in every moment. With a happy, free heart, your thoughts will soar and won’t be trapped by any single event. When you’re not trapped, many problems already become past tense, and there’s no need to over‑cling to what’s gone.

Hello, comrade, may I have a few minutes of your time?

The world belongs to you, and to us, but ultimately it is yours. You young people are vibrant and in your prime, like the sun at eight or nine in the morning. Our hopes rest on you. The world is yours. China’s future is yours. We must always be ready, for the sake of the Party and the people, to uphold truth and correct mistakes, creating a political situation that is both centralized and democratic, disciplined yet free, unified in will yet personally fulfilling, lively and dynamic.
