“Minor delusions are easy to correct; major delusions are hard to change. How do we know this? The ancient Yu clan tried to sway the world with benevolence and righteousness, and the world rushed to embrace them. Is it that right and wrong are altered by benevolence and righteousness? Let me try to explain: since the Three Dynasties, everyone has tried to change their nature through external things. The petty person sacrifices his body for profit, the scholar sacrifices his body for fame, the minister sacrifices his body for his family, the sage sacrifices his body for the world. Thus these four types pursue different careers and earn different reputations, but they all “sacrifice” their nature with their bodies. — Zhuangzi”
Why Does Daoism Oppose All Life Goals? 【Wang Defeng Answers a Student】 https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1c3MgzNEb9/
Happiness first rests on innate talent, which everyone possesses—just in different forms. Understanding talent shouldn’t be limited to “I must become the greatest master in this field to prove I have talent.” The best life, from a Daoist view, is one free of the worldly and era‑specific goals imposed by society. In reality we seek a kind of freedom: I refuse to let contemporary social standards dictate my actions; those standards simply don’t exist as my goals. I can practice the high jump earnestly without needing to become a world champion. I can satisfy my curiosity and pursue further study without having to become a great scientist, banker, or financier. Those lofty titles are unnecessary and meaningless; discard them all and live a life without preset goals.

Famous sayings from traditional culture are inherently open‑ended. An ordinary person may see “It is a pleasure to have friends come from afar” as a simple joy of gathering friends, while scholars dig out deeper nuances such as “kindred spirits.” Different status, circumstances, and knowledge lead to different interpretations. As long as there is no deliberate distortion, absurd reinterpretation, or intentional misinformation, we need not over‑politicize the issue or label the speaker.

When a venture hits a setback, many comrades fall in a pool of blood; even those who survive often become disheartened and leave you. What do you do? The world is full of injustices, the nation and its people suffer, and the few survivors willing to work with you don’t know where to start. How should you proceed? In everyday life we may not face such extreme hardship, but if you aim to build something meaningful and run a vibrant family and home, you’ll inevitably encounter similar challenges. If you lack a clear answer, try opening Selected Works of Mao Zedong and read “Why the Red Regime in China Could Exist” and “The Struggle at Jinggangshan,” and learn the background and aftermath of those pieces—you might find some inspiration.
Q&A | Isn’t Plain Porridge Just Sweet Water? Why Does TCM Revere It So Much? https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/8YFQa7-9z3vNj-mT0fKjWQ
What energy does porridge contain? Two points are key: “grain qi” and “fire qi.” The main ingredient of plain porridge is rice, one of the five grains (rice, wheat, beans, etc.). Traditional Chinese Medicine has long valued the five grains. As early as the Huangdi Neijing it states: “The five grains nourish, the five fruits assist, the five meats benefit, the five vegetables fill; combine their flavors and ingest them to replenish essence and strengthen qi.” When we talk about health preservation, why? This passage makes it clear: at the dietary level, the five grains are the foundation of health. Fruits, meats, and vegetables—though chemically richer—serve mainly as supplements, aids, and fillers, not the core. If you neglect the fundamental grains and only pick bits and pieces, you miss the point; for nurturing life, that’s of little value.
The Great Way Is Formless https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/nxsIpaWjSTSJXerPGBh0kQ
The Great Way is formless—why formless? It is so vast it has no boundaries, omnipresent, and transcends all appearances, hence “formless.” The I Ching also says: “The Great Way is formless; it is used and trusted.” “Formless” refers to the background; “used and trusted” to the phenomena. In medicine, if I gently place a needle into your Hegu point, your pain may ease—that’s “used and trusted.” When the needle isn’t in use, does the network exist? Yes, but it’s invisible; when I use the needle, it becomes manifest. The “great” in “Great Way” points to the underlying system—so massive it has no limits. We cannot see it, yet we can sense its presence. This “formless” is akin to “boundless.”
